Romaine is the “king of crisp,” a perennial salad bowl favorite. Originally called cos from the Arabic word for lettuce (and still is, especially in Britain), romaine is believed to have originated on the Aegean island of Cos nearly 5,000 years ago. Romaine is actually a French word; legend has it that this lettuce was named for the Romans, who cultivated it for food and medicinal properties.
Romaine’s long, green leaves and sturdy, pale ribs make it the perfect lettuce for just about any salad, alone or in a mix. It’s robust enough to support delicious fruits and vegetables flawlessly, and it stands up to bold or creamy dressings with ease.
No excuses!! Save money, Eat healthy!
Today, not only am I experiencing some extreme detox symptoms while I am doing a juice fast day, drinking a gallon of juice today consisting of parsley, cilantro, ginger, carrot, romaine, lemon, a huge beet, cucumber, apple, and coconut water. Good thing I have this blog because doing a video isn’t an option at this moment due to the fact that I have pretty much lost my voice, it keeps coming and going. Exciting detox results! My whole upper body lymph has been moving out nicely today
Some days have been easier than others, but as my appetite picks up, today is one of the harder days and as I type this the living room is filled with the aroma of burger king chicken nuggets that I have been told now more than once in the last 5 mintues how wonderful they taste and how much better they are than McDonald’s chicken nuggets! Even so, I am offered one more than once, even with my intentions for healing plainly laid out for everyone’s awareness. But I am also told on a daily basis that I have exaggerated the symptoms I’m experiencing and that I have been misdiagnosed by 2 different doctors, and have not been suffering even when I appearance has spoken for itself where I was too weak to even stand less than 2 weeks ago. Wishing for support from loved ones is an understatement.
This can go one of two ways…I get upset at the fact that these are not only brought into my experience on purpose with no empathy (on a daily basis) OR I use this experience to only gain more strength to move forward with “the plan.”
So to this and every experience I feel is set before me as a test of self-sabotage, I will only use from this point forward as added strength to propel me to forward in accomplishing the goals I have set for myself.
I am personally very moved by this video by Markus Rothkranz, The day I saw this video was perfect timing.
Carrots are on the “favorites” list for lots of people. This most popular and familiar of all root vegetables is available all year long — they’re as good as a crunchy-fresh snack as they are in all kinds of recipes.
Video coming soon!!
I am using a combo of juices and blended fruits to save my own life and this particular juice is definitely life-boosting!!
The adrenal and thyroid glands are intimately connected and if one is imbalanced the other almost certainly has some form of dysfunction. It is also a good assumption that if these secondary glands are imbalanced, the primary glands in the brain that control them are also not fully functioning. This imbalanced state leads to an endocrine (glandular) system disorder and thus an impaired immune system. Standard thyroid blood tests will not accurately reflect thyroid function. Just taking thyroid medication and even supplements will not “fix” the imbalance.
Rather than supplementing the symptoms, a more holistic approach would be to feed super nutrition to the primary glands in the brain. When the glands in the brain are balanced and operating in synergy, they will, in turn, bring the secondary adrenal and thyroid glands back into balance. With any glandular imbalance or a poor immune system, I feel it is more holistic to let the body do the balancing than a drug or supplement (which may have side effects and create a dependency for life).
Hidden Endocrine-Immune Imbalance
Too many people and even pets today have thyroid and/or adrenal gland disorders. What people (and perhaps the Western medical community) do not realize is that if there is a thyroid imbalance, there almost certainly is an adrenal gland dysfunction and vice versa. These two glands are so intimately related that based on a holistic perspective, one cannot just medically treat one gland (as Western allopathic medicine does) and expect the other gland (and the entire endocrine system) to also be balanced. Furthermore, the thyroid and adrenals are secondary glands. They both are controlled and regulated by the primary glands and organ of the body, namely the pituitary (master gland), pineal and hypothalamus in the brain. So, by deduction, if the thyroid and/or adrenals are not functioning properly, it is a good bet that this triad in the brain are also not in balance. The significance of this imbalance in the brain is seen, when one realizes that if any part of the endocrine (glandular) system is dysfunctional, this also impairs the immune system.
With a deficient immune system, the body is subjected to seemingly unrelated diseases and a silent epidemic including, but not limited to:
- Autoimmune disorders
- Kidney and liver disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Aggressiveness and strange behavior in both people and pets
- Hyper sensitivities to food and insect bites (flea, tick and mosquito)
- Chronic bacterial, viral and fungal infections
- Unresolved illnesses unresponsive to conventional therapy
STOP Supplementing the Symptoms
No matter what the cause (genetics, poor nutrition, pollutants, etc.) it would seem the answer to holistic wellness is to balance the entire endocrine and immune systems (not just the thyroid and adrenals) so that a fully functional body can take care of the symptoms. Holistically, instead of artificially boosting up the adrenals and thyroid (secondary glands), if we could feed and energize the primary glands of the brain (pituitary-master gland, pineal and hypothalamus) we could accomplish some amazing results.
Holistically, this is working from the top>down or from the inside>out rather than the Western allopathic model of just treating the symptom, disease or single gland that appears to be dysfunctional. Once the master gland and organs of the brain are 100% functional, they would then regulate not only the adrenals and thyroid but every other gland and organ of the body. This promotes holistic wellness and the body will have no need for symptoms of disease.
A holistic preference is to use whole food products that can nutritionally support this process instead of drugs and supplements that just treat the symptoms or a single gland (thyroid or adrenals).
